Library Visits
New estimates by the Department for Education (DFE) show that 97,000 children were home educated in 2023’s summer term, an increase of 11,000 compared with the 86,000 home educated at the start of 2023.
INVOLVING HOME EDUCATED CHILDREN IN STORYTIME SESSIONS
There are various reasons some parents have made the decision to take their children out of school and chosen to educate them at home instead. Many parents with SEN children say their children have struggled with their mental health in main stream school and the support is not there to help them as funding has been cut for all areas of education, . It's important these children are not forgotten about and they don't miss out on opportunities and resources that being in a school environment brings.
We want to organise library sessions for home educated children, bringing children together to enjoy story time with Bandit. They will benefit being in a social and safe environment with children who all have similar needs. Our aim would be for each child attending to go home with a free book, to continue the love of reading at home.
